Many horse owners find that they have a horse which needs to be trained in some way; perhaps the horse is very nervous, disobedient or is unfit.

“Schooling the horse” is a term used to describe the ways you can train your horse in sessions which aim to iron out any of these problems.

Fiona offers weekly ridden schooling services in conjunction with lessons, which is an ideal way for horse owners to see their horse ridden with correct methods, by making a few simple adjustments. Many owners never get the chance to see their horse ridden in this way, so it is therefore a very beneficial way of showing the owner what they are working towards.

This is also valuable for the horse, who will;

  • Become more obedient
  • Be fitter and more muscled
  • Be less likely to react  when startled
  • Be more fit for competitions
  • Become less tiring to ride

Tailor Made Sessions

Fiona can tailor these sessions around you and your horse, she can school the horse as and when you need – or perhaps when you are on holiday.

Fiona enjoys working with clients to help them start or back their horse. One of her strengths is lunging and long reining, which can be used both for starting and continued training. This can also benefit the rider’s confidence as well as balance and position on the horse.
