I am a freelance riding instructor based in Edenbridge which is on the Kent, Surrey and Sussex borders. With thirty years experience teaching both recreational and vocational riders of all ages, I have numerous teaching qualifications including BHS, NVQ, RDA and am currently studying for my coaching qualifications, I am a registered BHS instructor and fully insured. I specialise in teaching the correct basic foundations of riding and training for both horse and rider with the fundamentals established the specific individual disciplines can be then be built.
My competition experience includes riding club team level for show jumping and eventing, Medium Advanced level dressage and showing at county level. I have also competed in driving trials, long distance riding and Le Trec, plus regular hunting.
My aim is to teach people to ride confidently with balance and co-ordination, using a range of techniques learned over the years, including some natural horsemanship methods and classical riding in which all qualified instructors are trained. I teach a broad base of clients from disabled riders and young children to riding club level adults.
It is my belief that both horse and rider must be treated as individuals to reach their full potential, and that the basic building blocks of communication, control, and confidence are essential for a happy horse and rider combination.
